Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a subtle and profound healing form which assists the body's natural capacity for self-repair.

Craniosacral therapy is extremely gentle and suitable for babies, children, the elderly, as well as adults and people in fragile or acutely painful conditions. Treatment can help with almost any condition, raising vitality and improving the body's capacity for self repair.

Typically in a craniosacral session, you will usually lie on a treatment couch. The therapist will make contact by placing their hands lightly on your body and tune in to what is happening by "listening" with their hands. Contact is made very carefully so you will feel at ease with what is transpiring.

During your session you will probably notice a sense of deep relaxation, which will generally last throughout the entire session. With subsequent treatments, this release of tension often times will extend into everyday life. The treatments can address physical aches and pains, acute and chronic disease, emotional or psychological disturbances, or simply help to develop well-being, health and vitality.

Some of the conditions successfully worked with are:
  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Autism
  • Back pain
  • Birth trauma
  • Bronchitis
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Colic
  • Depression
  • Digestive problems
  • Drug withdrawal
  • Dyslexia
  • Exhaustion
  • Fall or injury
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Hyperactivity
  • Immune system disorders
  • Insomnia
  • Lethargy
  • Menstrual pain, PMS
  • Migraine

Sometimes the benefits are not immediately noticeable but become obvious upon returning to a familiar environment. The treatments can involve resolution of past events and is often profoundly relaxing, deeply moving and exhilarating.

Craniosacral therapy developed from the work of an American osteopath, Dr. William Sutherland in the early 1900s. He discovered intrinsic movements of the bones in the head and further research revealed different rhythms in the body. As a result of detailed clinical observation, it became clear that these movements, which can be measured using delicate scientific instruments, are a direct expression of health and offer a way of working with the physical, as well as mental and emotional health.

Restriction of movement is directly linked to a reduction of the natural capacity to self-heal. A limitation or absence of the movements suggests a reduction in the expression of health which may result in numbness, a sense of something missing or disease. Using the hands to feel these movements allows craniosacral therapists to facilitate change in these areas of restriction.

Craniosacral therapy, developed from clinical experience, shows that health is something active and not just an absence of disease. The results from this therapy can increase a sense of well-being which can help with many aspects of life, from strengthening the immune system to improving interpersonal relationships.

Activator Method

The Activator Method is a diagnostic and treatment system centered on leg-length analysis, and can determine when to adjust and when not to adjust the spine.

Some people have the misconception that chiropractic care is only for back and neck pain. The truth is, chiropractic care can benefit a wide variety of health problems that stem from dysfunction of your spinal joints and nervous system. Everyday life, old injuries, and even stress can cause your vertebrae to lose their proper motion or position. Spinal joint dysfunction may be a source of irritation to your nervous system, causing pain and nerve interference throughout your body.

The Activator Method is a program for total health. Removing nerve interference with gentle adjustments allows you to enjoy optimal health without using drugs or surgery. Regular chiropractic care can become your body's line of defense against illness, disease, and pain, and will help your body stay healthy.

By correcting spinal joint dysfunction, chiropractic care helps your body heal itself.

Thompson Technique

The Thompson Terminal Point Technique is a chiropractic adjustment performed on a table in which the supporting cushions drop an inch or so when a thrust is applied to the spine. Subluxations (nerve interference that causes abnormal function in the body) are located by checking leg lengths with the legs straight, the knees bent, or the head turned to either side.

Sacral Occipital (SOT)

The Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT) is a diagnostic and treatment method that involves analysis and correction of sacral and cranial distortions to improve circulation of cerebrospinal fluid. The degree of correction obtained is monitored by checking leg length.

Failor Technique

Dr. Ralph Failor was a chiropractic physician who helped pioneer visceral and reflex work. Dr. Kingston uses Failor technique to assist gall bladder drainage, hiatal hernia syndromes, digestive disturbances, and other organ disturbances.

The patient lies on the back, and the abdominal area is assessed. Gently pressure is applied to organs to restore motion and assist drainage. Many patients experience immediate relief from acid reflux or gall bladder pain.

Meridian Therapy

Dr. Kingston has implemented Meridian Therapy into his practice since 1990. He uses a laser, electro stimulator, or digital pressure to stimulate acupuncture points. Dr. Kingston received a Diplomat in the International Academy of Clinical Acupuncture in 1990. Meridian Therapy is an excellent adjunct to the chiropractic treatment.

Chinese Herbs

Dr. Kingston has been using Chinese herbs to help correct difficult cases for over twenty years. He exclusively uses Seven Forest products because of their proven track record. Chinese herbs work on an energetic level and can help digestion problems, respiratory difficulties, fatigue, and most chronic problems.

Laser Therapy

Mt. Tabor utilizes the Lightwave Low Level Laser - a state of the art therapeutic healing tool. Lasers heal the body through photo-bio-stimulation.  The laser can increase cellular respiration, lymphatic flow, mitcochondrial activity, and circulation.  Chronic and acute disc injuries, fractures, dislocations, and conditions that have not responded to any other treatment, respond to the laser treatment with amazing results.
